Death and Silence.
My men always look like boys! *SOB!* Little boys with bad haircuts and massive shoulders. I like the shading I did on Silence, although her arm bugs me. My altogether favorite part though are the pants legs for both of them. For some reason, those turned out really well.
Thanatos "Thane" Lazarus and his wife in all but marriage and name, Hannah Macauley.
Death is the LineBearer of the Death Bloodline, and twin to Life. Being a LineBearer means basically if you die... your whole line dies. You're the alpha, baby. There are nine LineBearers--Life, Death, Space, Dreams, Nature, Magic, Emotion, Reality, and Fate--although none of them actually know if Fate exists (but I do!). The first eight serve on the Council, deliberating over issues the Mystic society faces. Only Existence is higher in rank.
None of the LineBearers are actually related to each other--Existence created them, so they're all unique.
Bwee... tangent. Anyway. Death is a LineBearer. Silence is a second generation Reality Mystic (that is, her grandfather is Reality, the LineBearer). She and Death have three children together (he has a total of five)--the Mystics of Mourning, Denial, and Decay.
Silence is cool, in that she makes no sound. If she were to drop a glass vase, as long as it landed in her personal bubble of dead airspace there'd be no sound. She's deaf--can't even hear her own heart beat--and has to use sign language or mental text to communicate, or read lips. Since there's no sound around her, needless to say she can't make any sound herself either--she's a mute. And if you step into that personal bubble--Death's in it in this picture--you can't hear anything either.
Death has one silver-white eye and one blue eye. When he's around a dying soul the white pupil dilates until the iris is almost completely gone from the eye. Other than that he's just... well, creepy and calm. Nothing really seems to phase him.
And Mystics adopt names other than their own so that in human society they can blend in more easily... although Death and Silence really don't fit in anywhere.
Mystics and their world and my descriptions of them and all that--and this drawing!--are copyrighted to me. No steal-y! Grr! (Not that you'd want to, but whatever.)

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
